Coastal Survivors
Students explore our coastal environment and gain wilderness knowledge through educational hikes around the Palos Verdes Peninsula. We have become accustomed to and dependent on technology and we have forgotten the skills necessary to survive without it. This course allows students to immerse themselves with nature and learn the skills and techniques necessary to live off our coastal environment while also learning about the geography of the California coastline, the indigenous peoples who once lived here, and the organisms that inhabit our local waters. Survivor skills such as plant foraging, shelter building, ocean harvesting, orienteering, etc. will be taught. Class curriculum varies depending upon the season, weather, and tides.
To assist in ensuring a more balanced pricing structure, we are instituting a group discount plan for our classes based on higher attendance tiers. There have been several occasions where we do not meet the minimum head count (4 students) for standard pricing, thus we are working to accommodate that lower head count, rather than having to cancel that session.

For those who register early, in the event we hit the minimum number of students for the next tier, we will issue credit on your individual SportsEngine account to be used towards future class sessions.
