Waterfront Education is grateful to have been chosen once again as one of the Holiday Boat Parade recipient charities. That means that we will again be entering a boat into the parade! Unlike in years past, we will be opening this opportunity up to both home school and traditionally schooled students. Participation in a boat parade is usually limited to children of boat owners and their friends. Over the years we have worked to give kids an opportunity to participate in this unique community event.

Participation in this adventure requires teamwork as students utilize a variety of individual skills and talents to put their entry together based on the boat parade theme  - “Surfing the Yuletide”. Students will plan their design, create all the decorations, add the lights, and turn a concept into a reality . Not super into arts and crafts? That's ok! Students will also be able to explore the electrical side of things, working to program and coordinate their music and lights display. We will even explore craftsmanship and go over safety with power tools. To culminate the class, students will get the chance to show off their hard work in the 2019 King Harbor Boat Parade, either in the spotlight as a holiday rockstar or as a technician behind the scenes.

Sounds like fun? Then come join us for this creative holiday adventure on the sea!

To help cover the cost of supplies and educator time, we are asking for a class membership fee of $100. With this fee, you will receive 8 boat parade classes, the opportunity to ride on the boat during the parade, and access to the King Harbor Yacht Club holiday party after the event. We also ask that parents volunteer during the night of the boat parade. We hope to see you there!
